Complete mastery over the roaming tendencies of the
mind is Yoga.
Namaste Parvati Victoria,
The full moon occured at 8:34 a.m. today but we will see her brilliance in the sky and feel her emotions for the next couple of nights.
Full moons are a time for releasing and letting go. This full moon offers an invitation to release and let go of the harmful words we tell our bodies!
Our bodies are sacred and are to be treasured! It’s time that we focus on changing the story and relationship that we have with them. This is a HUGE issue and it correlates to taking our power back especially as women! We are each responsible for our own happiness which does not mean that our body needs to look like the person on the cover of a yoga magazine.
My own body image became worse after going through an accident in July when I was thrown from a horse. After the accident, I gained weight. Gaining this weight in itself was traumatic, but for the first time in years I was losing the muscle tone attributed to my daily yoga and walking.
I noticed that I was miserable and shameful for the changes happening to my body even though I was doing everything possible to manage my health. It is easy to feel body shame when we are consistently confronted with models on social media and the latest diet fad. Here’s the thing…I can look at anyone else, it does not matter what size they are, and all I see is beauty. I don’t judge others, but boy was I judging myself.
Then I shifted my focus to devoted self love. Over the past month, the weight began to drop and my muscle tone began to come back. In addition, I did a environmental detox (which I’ll share another time) and I reexamined my life. I realized that I had to do something pleasurable for me each day in some little or big way; otherwise, I would turn to food for pleasure.
Last week I began blow drying my hair in the nude! I view my body and have a conversation with her. At first, it was painful to realize how critical I was to myself. Then I began to feel so much love and admiration for my belly with her stretch marks for giving birth to two magical kids. I honored my arms for holding my grand children and for hugging others. I looked at amazement at these thighs that allow me to walk. Now my focus is on gratitude for this body that heals almost magically when I pour more love into her.

Self acceptance and self love are located in the realm of the heart chakra! When we can accept ourselves, we bravely move deeper into this heart center and self love and healing abounds.
Yoga Sutra 1.2
yogas citta vrtti nirodah (Sanskrit)
Complete mastery over the roaming tendencies of the mind is Yoga.
To master the roaming tendencies of the mind, we focus on a state of one-pointedness with self love and acceptance. In this state, we move the trapped mind out of worry and into the luminous beings that we truly are.

P. S. One of the first diets invented was by Sylvester Graham, a Presbyterian minister, whom the Graham cracker was named after. In the mid 1850’s he promoted his Graham diet that consisted of Graham crackers, which at that time, were not sweet, vegetables and no meat. Graham preached about sexual abstinence and was the one who said that masturbation would make you blind and lead to insanity.
Sylvester Graham’s mother had mental health issues and his dad died when he was a toddler. Some feel he invented this diet to control women’s emotions.
I bring this up to remind us to look at the origins of what we are allowing to enter our minds.

Below is a Sacred Empowerment Mantra to help focus on one-pointedness:
Fly Me to the Moon
Frank Sinatra
Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what “autumn’ is like on
A-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song and let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
